AWS Alberta Section’s Annual Welder’s Night
with presentation “From Welder to Inspector – Career Opportunities in the Welding Industry” by John Bringas, P.Eng.
Abstract
A welding inspector certification requires considerable study and job responsibilities, but also offers a rewarding career. Certified Welding Inspectors are widely recognized, both nationally (CSA W178.2) and internationally (AWS QC-1), and successful companies have come to rely on these certifications to ensure the highest level of weld quality to meet the demands of specified codes, standards, company practices, and jurisdictional regulations. For the welder considering a career change from tradesperson to inspector, this challenge can seem to be daunting, particularly when they have a lack of experience with codes, regulations, and using inspection tools. The good news is that this challenge can be successfully accomplished with the right approach that will be detailed in this presentation.
