Calgary Dinner Meeting Announcement - Jan. 18, 2012, Co-Hosted by CWA Calgary
“The Evolution of Stainless Steel” by Bob Van Deelen of Sandvik Materials Technology NAFTA
Abstract
Stainless steels were first produced during the early 1900s. Since that time, a wide range of different familes and grades of stainless steels have been developed to perform well in a wide range of aggressive environments. The evening’s presentation will explain how stainless steels have evolved from the basic austenitic, ferritic and martensite alloys to the latest grades of duplex alloys. Bob will also explain the significance of ferrite content and discuss the correct procedures for the pickling and passivation of stainless steels.
