A Tribute to Roy Ray Petty

Roy Ray Petty:  March 30, 1947 – February 9, 2011

Roy was a 30 year member of the Nashville Section of AWS.  His local section named a fund, the ROY PETTY SCHOLARSHIP FUND, in his memory.  He served as the section chairman at least four different times. He became a CWI in 1979.  He was awarded Nashville Section CWI of the Year in 1992, 1993, 1995 and 2003, and received the District CWI of the Year Award in 1993.  His latest work was done in his 15 years at World Testing, Inc. in Mount Juliet, Tennessee where he served as a Senior Inspector.
Roy was known as a great friend and coworker.  To think of Roy is to remember a tough, but gentle, honest man with impeccable integrity, always seeking to do what was right.  Roy was well-respected among his colleagues and the clients with which he worked.  He had done so many things on earth to make it a safer place to live.  Gratitude is shared by all of those to whom he imparted even a portion of his wealth of knowledge.
If you looked at pictures of Roy, you might see him with his wife of forty-five years, one of his children or grandchildren, among other people, but most assuredly you’d see him with a fish…a big fish.  Roy was an accomplished tournament fisherman with memberships in several local chapters.
For those who were so fortunate, be forever thankful to have known a man named Roy Petty.
