The Southeast Nebraska Chapter would like to welcome AWS President Vic Matthews as our guest speaker for this month’s meeting. Vic Matthews has worked with the Lincoln Electric Company since 1963, where he currently is responsible for consumables, GTA and SMA welding machines, plasma arc cutting machines, inverters under 300 amp, and is liaison to the Italian subsidiaries. Matthews began his career at The Lincoln Electric Company in 1963 as a bend brake operator. He attended Lincoln’s welding school and earned all of the diplomas it had to offer. He progressed to work in the Electrode Research and Development group for 13 years and was patented in eight countries for work done in the lab. Matthews moved to the manufacturing facility as plant welding engineer where he worked for 12 years. In 1990, he joined the Service Department with responsibility for engine driven welding machines. In 1992, he was assigned responsibility for Cleveland-manufactured consumable products worldwide. He is the past president of the Lincoln Electric Employee’s Association and Sick Benefit Fund. Lincoln recognized him with its Man of the Year Award in 1995.
Joining President Matthews will be our District Director David Landon from Vermeer Manufacturing located in Pella Iowa.
