Please join us for our November meeting as we tour the BNSF Havelock Shops. The Havelock Shops is a car repair facility for the repair and rebuilding of wrecked and aging railcars. The BNSF’s Havelock Shops is also the site of the BNSF wheel plant. Where the wheelset shop reconditions freight car and locomotive wheelsets for all the railroad’s shop system nationwide, producing about 90,000 wheelsets per year.
The meeting will start at the Main Office Building, which is located just north of the 67th Street gate. Please come in the west entrance of the building, and then take the second door on the right. We are limited to a maximum of 50 people for this tour and BNSF will require everyone to have the following safety items before they are allowed in the facilities. You will need a hard hat, safety glasses, long pants and closed toe shoes, steel toes are not required.
